Hurricane Sandy devastated the trees, shrubs, and plants of Brooklyn, along with people, homes, and coastlines.
A stand of 3 gorgeous mature lilac trees was obliterated on the little bridge near the entrance to Prospect Park at Grand Army Plaza.
But up from the wreckage the next Spring came a valiant little flowering from what was left of one of the bushes.
This lilac seems to be growing back, slowly but surely, to the delight of all of us lucky enough to pass by, enjoying its pretty blossoms and lovely scent.
Nature can be a powerful re-presencing device. Use it!
